Yesterday I had the opportunity to check out a sneak preview of “Chocolate City” and the movie actually managed to hold my attention. Typically the Strip Club does NOT tickle my fancy however, after watching the movie there was a different type of spin on things. 5 Reasons to go see Chocolate City this weekend or order it on Demand.
Reason 1 – Robert Ri’chard (A great actor – such a natural)
2. Michael Jai White (Nope You won’t be seeing him in a Speedo) and 3. Tyson Beckford
4. DeRay Davis – Even though he wasn’t one of the exotic dancers – he’s still a cutie (even though he was unemployed in the movie) He’s also still very funny!
5. Bolo the Entertainer – based out of Atlanta….. Now he’s HAWT!!! and drum roll please……..
6. Ginuwine (I actually had a chance to interview Ginuwine today and ask him a few questions…
PC: What were your first thoughts when your agent told you about the opportunity to be in this film?
Ginuwine: I had my reservations, because this was a role that’s nothing like who I am and well, I’m not a stripper.
PC: But you are an entertainer. I would imagine being on stage entertaining a crowd would be the same as a performance. You wouldn’t agree?
Ginuwine: Well, when you are performing you aren’t stripping. It’s like I don’t have a lot of movie experience and being on set with Michael Jai White, and Robert and actors like Darin Dewitt, you know it was a little intimidating.
PC: You? Intimidated? I can’t imagine that.
Ginuwine: I would imagine it would be the same if the actors were on set (or had a role as a singer), probably they would feel the same way. Just being out of your comfort zone, ya know? But once I got comfortable and shook off the nervousness I was all good. I also, was apprehensive when they told me about the song.
PC: So, let me ask you this. Being on the strip club scene for the filming of the movie and seeing how all that money floats on the stage in a matter of minutes in exchange for a little girating of the hips. Did you for one second consider maybe you could really have become an exotic dancer?
Ginuwine: Absolutely NOT! But, my hats off to Bolo the Entertainer and those guys. They do their thing.
PC: Well, congrats on the film and good luck at the box office this weekend. I hope the film does really well.
Ginuwine: I appreciate that. Please make sure you let everyone know to follow me on twitter & instagram @Ginuwine and on SnapChat at #Itsplaytime
PC: Will Do…
I thought I was prepared to kick back and inhale all the eye candy having Ginuwine, Bolo the Entertainer and Tyson Beckford can give out on screen; I’m now thinking twice about perseverance, grinding, and maintaining your hustle.
Who am I fooling? I love chocolate, mocha, java and all the trimmings. If you do as well then go see “Chocolate City.” Why? There’s an all-star veteran cast, an easy to follow story line and plenty of cameos to keep things interesting. Carmen Electra and Soul Food actor Darren De-Witt had great supporting roles in the film. Gloria Govan and
husband Matt Barnes and Trae Ireland are in the movie as well; and that’s the only surprise I will leak! Check out my thoughts about “Chocolate City” below.
The anticipated film, “Chocolate City“, coming to a theater near you on Friday, May 22, 2015. Welcome to “Chocolate City”, where the music is hot, the mood is magical, and the dancers are simply delicious. Women go wild when the arrival of a young, new dancer (Robert Ri’chard) aka Sexy Chocolate, has the women tossing their dollars like there’s a dollar tree in the parking lot.
sidebar- Remember Romeo Miller was rumored to play the lead part of “Deven” which was changed to “Michael”. I wonder what happened? Well, word on the curb Romeo Miller was having trouble with the dance moves and the whole stripper look and feel. Robert Ri’chard was a better replacement (producers choice).
About the storyline …
Michael (Sexy Chocolate) is a college student, who’s struggling to help his mother (Vivica A. Fox) make ends meet. When his part time job doesn’t pay the bills, he begins to find success at the nightclub dancing as “Sexy Chocolate.” As the money starts rolling in, Michael must deal with the unexpected pressure of being the new favorite flavor while hiding his “job” from his mother and girlfriend. Co-starring Tyson Beckford and Michael Jai White, “Chocolate City” is a steamy, fun ride that has all the right moves.
Written and directed by Jean-Claude LaMarre, “Chocolate City” features an irresistible ensemble featuring: Robert Ri’chard, Tyson Beckford, DeRay Davis, Michael Jai White and Vivica A. Fox. “Chocolate City” will have a limited theatrical release in the U.S. on Friday, May 22,2015, followed by its arrival on home entertainment platforms, including Digital, On Demand and DVD.
The private screening took place at Cinema Concepts in Atlanta. The best kept secret in the post film world. I had a great time checking out the film. I guarantee there’s no uncomfortable nude scenes. There’s only chest and cheeks! Ladies “Chocolate City” is a movie that’s full of drama, steamy eye candy, and it has an interesting twist to the story line. Special thanks to Liquid Soul media and the Garner Circle publicity for the invite.
All the actors did an amazing job! You can search event.com to find the location of the theater and order on Demand as it will be at limited theaters only.
Be sure to check out “Chocolate City” opening tonight. A perfect film to check out this holiday weekend.
