Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer are on their #BarbershopTour and the tour pit stopped in Atlanta and the crew landed at the Regal Theater at Atlantic Station.(If you are from California, Los Angeles) the shopping, dining, living, movie theater area reminds you of Westwood. This is the popular theater where Will Packer debuted “Think Like a Man” and the movie broke records and landed #1 in the box-office. This is also the same theater “Straight Outta Compton” debuted a screening and the Regal theater in Atlantic Station had the highest #’s for the weekend.
The thing these two movie debuts had in common is #1 the great team Allied but together to invite out all the celebrities and their great staff made sure everything was suburb from the moment the celebs, cast and guests set foot on the red carpet, made it to their seats and back to their vehicles leaving safely! The #2 thing they had in common is the majority of the cast members showed up for the screening. This makes a huge difference since Atlanta ranks #3 as the top social media market city! We snapchat!Instagram!Tweet! Facebook! and everything else. But the @barbershopmovie IG has been really on top of their tweets! Of course their 16k followers doesn’t compare to @Nickiminaj 40million followers but hey they have been busy! Check out their pics, reposts and regrams!
Seeing as only Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer was sent out by the film company they must be banking on Nicki Minaj, Cassie and Brandy’s social media followers to carry them through! Let’s hope the Barbs don’t let Nicky down; and Cassie’s enlists Diddy and the Ciroc Boys to pump up the volume on social media. Puff should sponsor several Circoc screenings in the VIP dine & drink theaters to get the party started April 15th!
Jamal “Gravy” Woolard did an outstanding job as “Marqueese” in the movie! You are going to be in for a huge surprise!
Is it me or during the movie when they had the standoff (not to be a spoiler give away person) but I think more people in the community would have come out if they had Silento perform ‘Watch me” for the kids and that could have made an incredible scene watching
Ice Cube , Regina Hall and Nicki Minaj, ok everyone Whip! NaeNae! and Stanky leg do the other dances. Just my two cents! I know, who asked right?
The best part of the screening in Atlanta was the Creme of Nature sponsored Pre-Reception that took place at the Yard House. I swear I have been to the Yard House restaurant a thousand times and didn’t know about all these good little treats they have. Check out the spread below.
The Mayor of Atlanta Kasim Reed presented a Proclamation from the City of Atlanta to Ice Cube & Cedric the Entertainer for their tireless work in the community with the kids in particular. Cedric gave a very interesting speech with a lot of big words that really touched my heart (yeah ok). But it sure had Mayor Reed cracking up profusely.
According to Atlanta Daily World : The Barbershop: The Next Cut red carpet premiere at Regal Cinemas in Atlantic Station was punctuated by the city’s Mayor Kasim Reed bestowing the highest award, the Phoenix Award, to rapper-turned-filmmaker Ice Cube and beloved comedian Cedric the Entertainer for their contribution to making Atlanta one of America’s epicenters for cinematic arts.
The former NWA member and creator of the Friday and Ride Along franchises — in addition to the Barbershop franchise — has made several of his films in the city, helping to make Atlanta the third-largest hub for movie-making behind Los Angeles and New York.
The Next Cut, a Warner Bros. film, opens on April 15. It was produced by Ice Cube, directed by Malcolm Lee (best known for the ultra-successful Best Man franchise), and stars rappers Common, Nicki Minaj and Eve, as well as Regina Hall, Anthony Anderson, Garcelle Beauvias and Margot Bingham.
